Who we are
Strong Strides is a small nonprofit providing free one-on-one mentorship to children and teens with chronic illnesses or extended hospital stays, along with guidance for their families. The goal is to support a safe, confident return to movement and sports.
The organization is led by a single mentor with lived experience as a youth athlete managing chronic illness. Mentorship is personal and flexible, shaped by each child’s health, energy, and goals. Support includes emotional guidance, realistic goal setting, and help communicating with schools and coaches.
Strong Strides also accepts donations to provide gifts and comfort items for families during hospital stays or long recovery periods, such as care packages, books, and activity kits.
Strong Strides focuses on reducing isolation and confusion by offering steady, experience-based support. Families move at their own pace, with health and well-being guiding every step.
